Bowling Green, Ky. - Radio station WAVG in Louisville will join the Big Red Radio Network this weekend carrying the Hilltoppers' Gateway Football Conference battle with Western Illinois from L.T. Smith Stadium/Jimmy Feix Field in Bowling Green.
The addition of WAVG (1450-AM) to the Network - already the second largest collegiate sports network in the Commonwealth of Kentucky - increases the number of Topper football affiliates to 15.
"Adding WAVG to the Big Red Radio Network is a plus for two reasons," Mike Legg, Director of Broadcasting and Sales at WKU and the Voice of the Hilltoppers, said. "We're able to reach a market and fan base that are critical to the success of our network and teams by joining forces with the reputable broadcasters in the Trask family."
WAVG will serve as the Louisville-area home for both Hilltopper football and men's basketball.
"As a graduate of Western Kentucky University, I am especially pleased to be able to bring Hilltopper football and men's basketball to the fans here in the Louisville area," said Blair Trask, owner of Traskom LLC, which operates WAVE Radio - WAVG-AM 1450.
Hilltopper football can also be heard every Saturday on the following Big Red Radio Network affiliates: flagship station WPTQ-FM 103.7 in Bowling Green; WBRT-AM 1320 in Bardstown; WTCO-AM 1450 in Campbellsville; WKYA-FM 105.5 in Central City; WIEL-AM 1400 in Elizabethtown; WEKT-AM 1070 in Elkton; WKXF-AM 1600 in Eminence/Shelbyville; WCDS-AM 1440 in Glasgow; WSON-AM 860 in Henderson; WKHG-FM 104.9 in Leitchfield; WTTL-AM 1310 in Madisonville; WLME-FM 102.9 in Owensboro; WPKY-AM 1580 in Princeton; and WSFC-AM 1240 in Somerset.
