Derek Robinson's rebound basket at the buzzer lifted Western to a 77-75 win over Austin Peay on Dec. 8, and the rematch was another tight game.
The first half alone had five ties and eight lead changes before the Hilltoppers built a 41-34 half time lead.
Stapleton scored five points during a 12-5 Governors' run that tied the game again at 62-62 with 5:35 remaining.
The Hilltoppers led 68-66 when Filip Videnov sank a three-pointer with 1:55 left. Rhet Wierzba was fouled on a three-point shot and hit three free throws 17 seconds later to keep Austin Peay within two.
Pandov dunked with 45.8 seconds left to Western up by four, but Stapleton hit two runners in the lane over the next 25 seconds to tie the game at 73-73.
After Curry's free throws, Austin Peay called timeout. Stapleton got the ball on the inbounds and found Davis, who missed a three-pointer from the corner as time expired.
