Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky men's basketball 2000-01 season ticket holders, and Hilltopper Athletic Foundation members, have until Sept. 7 to order the same number of tickets for the NABC Classic as they had season tickets last year. NABC ticket packages will be sold for $60 and include all four games of the annual tournament.
In the first round (Thursday, Nov. 15), Western plays Kentucky (scheduled for 7 p.m. CST) while George Washington faces Marshall (5 p.m.) in Lexington's Rupp Arena. The championship and consolation games are set for 7 and 5 p.m. the next evening (Friday, Nov. 16).
WKU Season-ticket holders have priority when purchasing tickets for the event, which features that first-round battle between the Hilltoppers and UK, ranked second in the nation by several preseason publications.
"We've had a very strong initial response," HAF executive director Jim Clark said. "This is an excellent opportunity for fans to secure their season purchase and guarantee themselves seats to what could be one of the toughest basketball tickets of the year. We anticipate selling every ticket we have."
When the Sept. 7 deadline passes, new season ticket holders and HAF members who are not season ticket holders will be able to secure seats for the tournament for the same $60 four-game package price.
"Remaining tickets will go really quick," WKU ticket manager Jim Cope said. "I think the chances are pretty good that our students will be camping outside our offices the night before student sales begin."
In their last meeting (Feb. 15,1992) the Wildcats defeated the Hilltoppers 93-83 in Lexington. The Wildcats lead the series 3-1 and UK is the only team in the state that holds an all-time series advantage over Western.
