John Stephanski has been a member of the WKU Athletics staff since the fall of 1993. Stephanski serves as an Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning for WKU, working closely with the volleyball, softball, men’s and women’s golf, and the women's tennis program, as well as any others that may need assistance.

Stephanski was hired at WKU after serving as an intern with the University of Kentucky 1992-93 Final Four men’s basketball team. Stephanski made school history in 1993 by becoming the first ever strength coach hired at WKU. After working closely with the men’s basketball program for two years, Stephanski was promoted to a full-time coach at the university, taking control of 17 out of the 18 athletic programs at the university.

In 2009, Stephanski earned a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach certification from the CSCCa, the highest honor that can be achieved as a strength and conditioning coach.

Stephanski earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky in exercise science in 1993 and a master’s degree in physical education from WKU in 1995.

Stephanski is a Frankfort, Kentucky native who resides in Bowling Green. He’s married to his wife, Melissa and they have three children, Chandler and twins Bradan and Cadan.
