2021 (r-Sr.) | 14/8: Cain made eight starts while appearing in all 14 games for WKU in 2021. He finished sixth on the team in tackles for the year with a total of 55, 30 of which were solo. The redshirt senior also chipped in 1.5 sacks and three quarterback hurries while intercepting two passes. Cain picked off passes in back-to-back wins over Charlotte and Middle Tennessee for the Tops. He played one of his best games of the season in the Conference USA Championship against UTSA when he tallied a season-best 11 tackles.
2020 (r-Sr.) | 10/0: Cain played in 10 games for the Hilltoppers. He was as a key member of multiple special teams units and saw some snaps on defense, making 12 total tackles (10 solo, two assisted) on the campaign. Also added two quarterback hurries in the LendingTree Bowl vs. Georgia State. He will retain his redshirt senior year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
2019 (r-Jr.) | 12/0: Cain appeared in all-but-one game for the Hilltoppers, seeing most of his time on multiple special teams units. He recorded seven total tackles, including a season-high three on Aug. 29 vs. Central Arkansas and two on Nov. 9 at Arkansas.
2018 (r-So.) | 4/0: Cain appeared in the first four games of the season, but missed the remainder of the season due to an injury he suffered on Sept. 22 at Ball State.
2017 (r-Fr.) | 9/1: Cain appeared in the first nine games of the season, but missed the remainder of the season due to an injury he suffered on Nov. 4 at Vanderbilt. He started his first career game as a Hilltopper on Oct. 28 vs. Florida Atlantic and racked up a career-high five tackles, including 0.5 for loss. He recorded a sack on Oct. 14 vs. Charlotte on the final play of the game, for a five-yard loss. He disrupted back-to-back pass plays on Sept. 23 vs. Ball State on a fourth-quarter Cardinal possession deep in their own zone, leading up to Joe Brown’s 34-yard, game-sealing pick six.
2016 (Fr.): Cain redshirted his first season on The Hill.
HS/Misc.: Cain came to The Hill via Caldwell County where he was a two-time All-State performer on the Louisville Courier-Journal’s First Team and Second Team as a junior and senior, respectively. Cain was also named to the All-BluegrassPreps.com All-State team. During his senior season, a two-way star, Cain helped Caldwell County to a 10-3 record and a final eight showing in the KHSAA 3A Playoffs. Defensively, Cain snagged three interceptions, including a pick six against Mayfield, as well as two fumble recoveries for 102 total yards. On the other side of the ball, Cain led the Tigers in scoring with 148 points behind 14 rushing touchdowns and six through the air. Cain tallied 38 receptions for 547 yards and 69 rushes for 369 yards. Cain was rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports.com and Scout.com. Scout rated Cain as the top safety prospect in the state while 247Sports listed Cain as the No. 11 player in the Commonwealth and the 123rd-best athlete in the nation.
