March 15, 2017 - LOOK: WKU's Paul Murray has the best facial hair in college baseball
2017 (Senior): Murray made 11 starts in the Hilltopper outfield, finishing with 99 in his career at WKU ... Kept the game alive Feb. 18 vs. Valparaiso on Opening Day with a pinch-hit, RBI
double in the bottom of the ninth ... Started the final four games of the year in left field, notching his 11th career outfield assist May 18 vs. FIU ... Had a 7-to-11 walk-to-strikeout ratio in his final 13 games.
2016 (Junior): Murray was a mainstay in the WKU outfield in 2016, starting 52 games and playing in all but one on the year ... He finished with a .268 batting average and .349 on-base percentage on 51 hits, 25 RBI, 14 runs and 10 doubles ... Murray tallied more multi-hit games (14) and RBI in 2016 than he did in his first two seasons on The Hill combined ... His best spell of the season came in the middle portion of the year when he took his average from .227 on March 18 to .281 heading into the Rice series on April 15 ... He collected a hit in 37 contests and reached base safely in every game but eight (44/52) that he started in ... Murray held a career-best 21-game reached base streak in the middle of the year ... He had a pair of three-hit games in wins against Cincinnati and Middle Tennessee and drove in a career-high three in a midweek win at Lipscomb.
2015 (Sophomore): Murray emerged as a consistent outfield starter for WKU during his second season, making 33 starts and appearing 42 times overall in 2015 ... He was WKU's primary left fielder down the stretch and finished the season tied for seventh nationally with seven outfield assists ... Murray hit .265 with 31 hits, 10 doubles, a triple, a homer and 11 RBI for the Hilltoppers ... He tallied a career-high four hits against Southern Miss on April 11 and was a home run shy of the cycle in that contest ... The next week (April 14-19), Murray doubled four times in a four-win week for WKU ... He hit his first-career home run at Middle Tennessee on May 2 and legged out a triple against Florida Atlantic on May 15 ... He finished the season with five multiple-hit games and three multiple-RBI performances.
2014 (Freshman): Murray started three games at designated hitter and appeared in 21 games overall during his freshman campaign, where he was primarily used as a pinch-runner ... He scored four runs as a pinch runner, three of which came in wins against UNC Asheville and Belmont ... His first career hit came in the sixth inning of a 13-2 win against UNC Asheville, where he recorded a two-run single to tally his first career RBI as well ... His only other hit of the season came against Belmont on April 30 ... Murray finished 2014 with a .133 batting average in 15 at-bats.
At Junipero Serra HS: Murray comes to the Hill rated as a top 1000 player according to Perfect Game USA ... He was coached by Craig Gianinno at Serra High School and played summer ball with California Club Baseball, where he was named WCAL First Team All-League ... Murray hit .423 in league play and .381 overall in his 2012 season.
