Matt Keenan joined WKU in September 2019 as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications/Media Relations on The Hill.

In this role, he serves as the primary media contact for WKU Baseball and Cross Country while handling secondary contact duties for WKU Football.

Prior to his time with the Hilltoppers, Keenan worked at the University of Pittsburgh as a Media Relations Assistant for one year while serving as the primary contact for the Pitt Men's Soccer and Softball programs and performing secondary contact duties for the Pitt Men’s Basketball program.

Before stepping into his role as a Media Relations Assistant, Keenan served as an intern in the Panthers’ Media Relations department for the spring 2018 semester. During his internship, he served as the secondary contact for the Pitt Gymnastics program. Additionally, he worked closely with the football, men’s and women’s basketball, softball, baseball, tennis and wrestling programs, covering all home events and traveling for select road trips.

Prior to Pitt, Keenan spent four years in the Athletic Communication office at Slippery Rock University as an undergraduate student worker. While at The Rock, he was involved with all aspects of the Athletic Communication department, from handling stats and multiple broadcasting and game operations duties during home events to creating and updating hundreds of pages on the website and serving as the primary contact for the SRU Field Hockey team during his senior year.

In June 2018, Keenan was honored with the Bill Esposito Memorial Award by the Eastern College Athletic Conference Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA). Beginning in 1996, the award has been presented annually to a graduating college senior that wishes to pursue a career in Athletic Communications and has seen winners from schools such as Syracuse, Penn State and Harvard.

A 2018 graduate of Slippery Rock University, Keenan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management with a minor in Business Administration while receiving magna cum laude honors.

Originally from Meadville, Pa., Keenan now resides in Bowling Green, Ky. Â
