2017 UCA & UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- The WKU Cheerleading team competed in two talent rich divisions at the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) College National Cheerleading Championships, with the all-girl team placing fourth in the nation and the co-ed team finishing tenth in the nation.
The all-girl squad's fourth-place finish out of 18 programs is the second highest ranking in WKU's cheerleading history, and the tenth-place finish by the co-ed team out of 23 schools secures a third consecutive year of WKU having 2 competitive teams finishing in the top ten. Only Morehead State & Alabama can match that streak. The competition, held at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fl., is a showcase of top collegiate cheerleading squads and features highly-competitive Division I programs in a variety of routines.
Both teams will receive a $5,000 prize credit toward their entry into next year's event and should be featured on ESPN's coverage of the event due to their placement's.
The co-ed squad is coached by Tom Jones and Emily Armes, and the all-girl squad is coached by Josh Bewley, Joni Hall and Lori Bewley.
