EVANSVILLE, Ind. – WKU cross country opened the 2026 season with a pair of second-place team finishes at the Stegemoller Screagle Twilight hosted by Southern Indiana at USI Cross Country Course.
The women opened the event in the 4k and posted a runner-up overall team finish with a total time of 1:12:29 and average time of 14:29. The men followed in the 6k and earned an additional runner-up finish as a team, charting a 1:34:04 total time with an average time of 18:48.
Freshman Lilly Brooks highlighted the event for the Hilltoppers on the women's side, earning a third-place individual finish with a time of 14:06.4. Sophomore teammates Caterina Rossomanno and Hannah Glassmeyer followed in the event with fourth and fifth-place individual finishes respectively.
On the men's side, freshmen Justin Doran and Asher Alvey earned fourth and fifth-place individual finishes respectively, both clocking times just shy of the podium. Complete results from the event can be fond here.
The Tops return to action at the Gans Creek Classic hosted by Missouri on Friday, Sept. 25 at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo. The race will stream live on SEC Network Plus with live results available through PrimeTime Timing.
