COLUMBIA, Mo. – WKU cross country wrapped competition in its second meet of the 2026 fall season at the eighth-annual Gans Creek Classic hosted by Missouri on Friday morning at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course. The Hilltoppers charted a second-place overall team finish in the women's 6k Black Open race, highlighted by a fifth-place finish by freshman Lilly Brooks. Freshman Justin Doran led the Tops' effort on the men's side, finishing 84th in the men's 8k Gold Invite with a time of 24:07.9 while competing in a deep field of 278 runners.
Brooks charted a time of 21:32.1 to take fifth in the women's 6k event on Friday to mark a second consecutive top-five finish, previously earning a third-place individual finish at the Stegemoller Screagle Twilight on September 4 to open the 2026 season and her collegiate career. Teammate Caterina Rossomanno followed finishing 13th in the 6k with a time of 21:55.2, while Hannah Glassmeyer finished 33rd with a time of 22:30.6 competing in a field of 296 runners.
Doran's finish in the men's 8k highlighted the Tops' performance on the men's side, with the team finishing 27th overall in the invite event. Michael Carnell followed with a time of 24:32.2, and Bryce Revo clocked a time of 25:03.2.
WKU cross country returns to action in the Louisville Classic on Saturday, Oct. 3 at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.
