Three Lady Toppers are in the top 25 on the leaderboard after the first day of the tournament.
NOTABLES
- Grace Frei leads WKU on the leaderboard, tied for eighth place. She fired a 73 (+1) in the first round and followed that up with a 72 (E) in the second putting her 1-over for the day. Frei is averaging 2.75 strokes on Par 3s in the tournament so far, which is tied for the best rate in the field. Her 72 in the second round is the best single round score for Frei at WKU.
- Leah Edwards ended the day tied for 12th place with a 2-over score through the first two rounds. Edwards carded a 73 in each round. She eagled the 12th hole in the first round, making her one of six players to eagle a hole in the tournament so far. She is averaging 3.89 strokes on Par 4s which is tied for the second-best rate in the field.
- Isabella Coughlin is tied for 23rd place heading into the final round on Tuesday with a 5-over score. She posted a 71 in the first round and a 78 in the second.
- Julia Zigrossi, playing as an individual, is tied for 60th place after the first two rounds with a 13-over score. She carded a 79 in the first round and a 78 in the second.
- Lauren Madson posted a 15-over score for the first two rounds, putting her in a tie for 69th place. She shot a 79 in the first round and an 80 in the second.
- Kaylee Dwyer finished the day tied for 90th place with a 23-over score. She carded an 83 in the first round and 84 in the second.
QUOTABLE
"I'm proud of how the team grinded it out today," said head coach Adam Gary. "It's a very tough course and a long day with 36 holes. We had three players in the lineup that had not played this event before, so I'm pleased with the start to the season. We are looking forward to 18 more tomorrow."
