HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the second, a two-out single off the bat of JP Acosta followed by a fielding error, gave WKU runners on second and third as Ethan Reynolds stepped into the box.
- Reynolds singled through the left side to score Acosta and give the Hilltoppers the early lead, marking the first RBI of his career.
- Reid Howard doubled into the left center alley to lead off the WKU third. Lane Arroyos followed and roped a double down the right field line to plate Howard and extend the Hilltopper lead to two.
- The Patriots struck two runs in the fifth to even the score.
- A solo home run followed by an RBI single gave DBU a 4-2 lead. A double steal rundown allowed the Patriots to scratch another to take a three run advantage.
- Camden Ross led off the Hilltopper sixth with a double into left center. A groundout allowed Ross to advance to third.
- Then, Daniel Stewart drove in Ross to make it a 5-3 game on a two-bagger down the left field line.Â
NOTABLES
- WKU falls to 27-24 on the year and 12-14 in league play.
- Gavin Perry started for the Hilltoppers on Saturday.
- In relief, WKU used Ka'olu Holt. Holt tossed 3.1 innings in relief, allowing just one hit and a walk in the effort.
- Lane Arroyos logged another two-hit game, finishing 2-for-4 with an RBI.
- One of his two hits was a double. Arroyos now has 23 doubles on the year which is tied for second in a single season in program history.
- Camden Ross also logged a multi-hit game. He finished up 2-for-4 with a double and a run.
- Ethan Reynolds started in right field for WKU on Saturday and finished 1-for-2 with an RBI.
- For Reynolds his RBI in the second inning was the first for the native of Bowling Green in his WKU career.
