HOW IT HAPPENED
- Austin Haller led off the game with a base hit.
- After two outs were recorded, Kyle Hayes walked and Cael Frost picked up where he left off over the weekend and logged an RBI single to score Haller and advance Hayes to third.
- Grayson Godbee then had to sub for Hayes and then Frost got caught in a rundown that allowed Godbee to score and give the Hilltoppers a two run lead.Â
- The Colonels scratched two runs in the seventh to even the score.
- Three more runs came across in the eighth for EKU to take a 5-2 lead over the Hilltoppers.
- Lane Arroyos walked to leadoff the WKU eighth. With two outs a fielding error in deep center field allowed Arroyos to score to make it a 5-3 game.
NOTABLES
- With the loss, WKU falls to 26-23 on the year.
- Zach Lyles started on the mound for WKU on Wednesday.
- Out of the bullpen Jude Favela, Dominic Monaco, Conner Wolf, Zack Serup, Trey Reinburg, Jacob O'Day, Nathan Lawson, and Aaron Robertson.
- Cael Frost had a two hit game and finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.
