HOW IT HAPPENED
- Austin Haller started things off Saturday with a five-pitch walk. Reid Howard was then hit by a pitch and Lane Arroyos moved both into scoring position with a groundball out.
- Camden Ross then logged an RBI groundout to score Haller and give WKU the lead in the first inning for the third time in as many games.
- Cael Frost stepped in and notched a double into right field to score Howard and extend the inning for a two-run lead.
- The Blue Hens scratched two runs in the home half of the inning to even the score.
- A one out single up the middle off the bat of JP Acosta got things going for the Hilltoppers in the second.
- Ethan Reynolds then on a full count recorded his first collegiate double to score Acosta and take the lead back at 3-2.
- A solo home run in the Delaware third evened the score at three all.
- A two out RBI single for the Blue Hens in the sixth gave Delaware its first lead of the game.
- The Blue Hens tacked on two in the seventh inning to extend their lead.
NOTABLES
- WKU finishes the regular season 29-26 and 14-16 in Conference USA play.
- Dominic Monaco was Saturday's starting pitcher for WKU.
- Monaco allowed three runs (earned) on five hits with six strikeouts in 3.0 innings of work. For Monaco, his six strikeouts match his career.
- Out of the bullpen, WKU used Zach Lyles, Sam Frizzi, and Nathan Lawson.
- Cael Frost paced the WKU offense Saturday with a 3-for-3 game. He logged a double, an RBI, and a walk in the effort.
- Ethan Reynolds recorded his first collegiate double along with an RBI in the third inning. He finished up 1-for-4.
- JP Acosta managed a 2-for-3 game with a run scored.
- Reid Howard also logged a pair of hits and a run and finished up 1-for-4.
