HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Aggies took their first lead of the series in the first following a leadoff double and later an RBI groundout to take the early 1-0 lead.
- With a runner on in the Aggie second, a home run to left field gave New Mexico State a three run advantage.
- The Aggies added two in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead.
- In the Hilltopper fourth Kyle Hayes reached on a fielding error and was followed by a walk to Camden Ross, forcing an Aggie pitching change.
- After the first out was recorded, Lane Arroyos pinch hit in the DH spot and on a 1-2 count, Arroyos laced a triple into right field to score two.
- Parker Coley followed with an RBI groundout to make it a 5-3 game.
- The Aggies added two runs in the fifth and put up a three-spot in the seventh to take a 10-3 lead over the Hilltoppers.
- With one out in the home eighth Ian Nguyen singled and was followed by back-to-back base hits from Nazarenus and Arroyos to load the bases.
- Parker Coley grounded into a fielder's choice that scored Nguyen to spark a four run Hilltopper eighth.
- Cael Frost walked to load the bases again with two outs.
- Manny Alberto lined a ball into the gap in right center field to clear the bases and bring WKU within, trailing 10-7.
NOTABLES
- The Hilltoppers fall to 19-17 on the year and 6-9 in CUSA play.
- WKU is now 14-14 all-time against the Aggies and 6-6 in Bowling Green.
- Zack Serup started for WKU on the mound Sunday.
- Serup tossed three strikeouts, allowing three runs (earned) on three hits in 2.0 innings of action.
- Out of the bullpen WKU used Trey Reinburg, Jacob O'Day, Ka'olu Holt, and Jude Favela.
- Favela led all relievers, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings and allowing just three hits.
- Manny Alberto led the offensive effort on Sunday, finishing 1-for-4 with three RBIs.
- Alberto's three RBIs match his season best and mark the second straight game the shortstop has done so.
- Lane Arroyos had a two-hit game, going 2-for-2 with a walk, a run, and two RBIs.
