HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Gamecocks started off the bottom of the first with a couple of base hits and the third batter of the game hit a home run to deep left field to give Jax State a 3-0 lead.
- Parker Coley recorded WKU's first hit in the second inning. The right fielder also became the first base runner of the day for the Hilltoppers with his single up the middle.
- The Gamecocks added three runs in the sixth on a bases-loaded sacrifice fly, a bunt single, and another sacrifice fly to center.
- Jax State scored four in the eighth for a run-rule walk-off.
NOTABLES
- With the loss WKU drops to 13-11 (3-3 CUSA) on the year.
- The Hilltoppers are now 6-11 all-time against the Gamecocks.
- Sunday marked the first time the Hilltoppers have been shutout in a CUSA game since April of 2024.
- Zack Serup started on the mound for WKU Sunday. He finished with three runs (earned) on four hits in 0.1 innings pitched.
- Appearances out of the bullpen included Nathan Lawson, Mick Uebelhor, Dawson Hall, Zach Lyles, and Jude Favela.
- Lawson finished with one strikeout and just one hit allowed in 4.0 innings of work. Lawson's four complete innings marked a season high for the native of Russell Springs, Ky.
- JP Acosta went 2-for-3 along with a walk.
- Parker Coley went 1-for-3 with a base hit and a walk.
- Kyle Hayes finished 1-for-2 with a base hit.
