JACKSONVILLE, Ala. -- WKU Softball fell to Jax State 7-1 on Sunday in the final game of the series at Jana McGinnis Field in Jacksonville, Alabama.

The Hilltoppers fall to 19-6 overall and 3-3 in Conference USA play while the Gamecocks move to 20-8 overall and 5-1 in conference.

Neither side scored through the first two innings until Jax State got the three runs of the game in the bottom of the third.

After holding Jax State scoreless in the fourth, Jenna Blanton scored WKU's only run of the game in the top of the fifth thanks to an RBI single to shortstop.

The Gamecocks added another four runs in the home half of the sixth and held the Tops scoreless in the top of the seventh to take the win.

NOTABLES

Five different Hilltoppers recorded a hit, and Jenna Blanton was responsible for the one run.
Erica Houge and Rylan Smith threw three innings each and combined for five strikeouts.
Both sides threw 111 pitches total.
