ABOUT THE TOPSÂ
- Last time out WKU competed in the Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational Friday and Saturday, Jan. 9-10.
- In total WKU saw 14 new PR's throughout the two-day meet with a season high 12 on Saturday.
- Friday saw two Hilltoppers set a new personal best. Jackson Gray finished with a PR in the men's pole vault with a mark of 4.85 meters. Joey Raybourne set a new PR in the 1000, clocking in at 2:41.17.
- LeAndre Bolen set a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 15.25 meters, good for eighth place. Blake Foster also set a PR in the shot put with a mark of 12.77 meters.
- In the women's event Jayla Gilbert took a third place finish and a PR with a toss of 14.77 meters. Gilbert's mark is the best in Conference USA so far this season.
- Haley Zell set a new best mark in the 60-meter dash of 8.08, beating her previous time by one second.
- In the 400 Gianna Huerta clocked a new PR with a sub minute time of 58.20. Dreeanna Wade also finished under a minute in the 400, setting a PR and beating out her old best by three seconds, finishing in 58.88.
- In the men's mile Wade Balcom led the effort for the Hilltoppers and set a new personal record with a time of 4:21.91.
- Trevor Hudnall managed a PR in the men's 800 with a time of 1:52.52. Ben Dunkle and Parker Smith each set a PR in the event as well.
- Kinley Kunkel set a new PR in the 3000 with a mark of 9:46, 12 seconds faster than her previous PR. In the men's event, Jake Younger set a new PR with a time of 8:36.
MEET HISTORY
- The Hilltoppers two-day trip to the Hoosier State will mark the third two-day meet of the indoor campaign for WKU.
- Friday and Saturday will mark the first time WKU has competed in Indiana during the indoor season since 2019. That year, WKU twice competed there at the Gene Edmonds Open at Purdue and the IU Relays in Bloomington.
- At the IU Relays that season, WKU saw a trio of first-place finishers in Martin Owusu-Antwi, Ka'Ven Berry, and Myesha Nott.
- For the Crossroads of America Invitational, it marks the second year of the meet, previously being held on Jan. 24-25, 2025.
- The Fall Creek Pavilion is in its third year of operation. The IUPUI Invitational in January of 2024 was the first Collegiate Meet in the now three-year old facility.
EVENT BREAKDOWN
- Friday, field events get underway with the women's weight throw at 11:15 a.m. Field events Friday conclude with the men's and women's long jump invite at 6.Â
- Track events on Friday kick off with the 3000-meter race at 2:45 and 3:20 p.m.
- Friday night's events wrap up with the Distance Medley Relay set for 7:50 and 8:15 p.m.
- Saturday gets underway at 8:45 a.m. with the women's shot put. Field events on Saturday conclude with the men's event set for 2 p.m.
- Saturday track events get underway with the men's and women's 5000 at 8:30 and 9 a.m. That will be followed by the 60-hurdles and 60-meter finals at 9:30.
- The meet will culminate with the men's and women's 4x400 meter relays set to run at 3 and 3:30 p.m. (All times listed are Central Standard)
