NOTABLES
- The Hilltoppers topped their 286 score for the first round with a 283 on Tuesday. With an overall 7-under score, WKU sits just two strokes back from fourth place and three strokes back from second.
- WKU currently has the most birdies in the tournament with 39 through the first two rounds. The Hilltoppers also have the third best average on Par 4s (4.04) and are tied for the seventh best average on Par 5s (4.63) and tied for eighth on Par 3s (3.20).
- Junior Gage Doyle had another solid round, finishing with a 3-under score of 69. Doyle is leading WKU on the leaderboard in a tie for 8th place. After the first two rounds, Doyle has a 5-under score of 139, which is the best 36-hole score of his collegatie career. Doyle is tied for the seventh most birdies in the tournament with 10 total.
- Redshirt-freshman Ethan Smith also shot 3-under for the day, propelling him up to a tie for 34th place on the leaderboard with an overall 1-under score of 143 for the first two rounds.
- Freshman Will Easterlin shot an even 72 for the day, keeping his overall score at 1-under and tying him for 34th place alongside Smith.
- Junior Rafe Blankenship posted a 73 for the second round, bringing his total score to 145 (+1) and putting him in a tie for 48th place.
- Sophomore Trevor Drew posted a 2-over score for the round, moving him to a tie for 61st place with a 147 (+3) score for the tournament.
QUOTABLE
"It was another really solid day as a team," said head coach Austin King. "Everyone was in the game again and Ethan and Gage really stepped up and put two great rounds together. We've got a great opportunity to make another push up the leaderboard with it being tightly packed. I think these guys can continue to play within themselves, post a good round tomorrow and I think we'll like where we're at!"
