DALLAS, Texas – WKU women's golf junior Sydney Hackett earned her third career – and second this spring – Conference USA Golfer of the Week honor on Wednesday.
Hackett finished second in the 90-player field at the Coach Mo Classic on Tuesday afternoon at St. John's Golf & Country Club in St. Augustine, Fla. She finished with a 2-under 214 (70-73-71), just one shot off the individual winner from Purdue, while also finishing ahead of nationally ranked players, No. 51 Pimchompoo Chaisilprungruang (Charlotte) and No. 80 Emma Schimpf (Charleston).
The second-place finish was Hackett's best of the season. She has posted five top-10 finishes in nine events this season. Her 11 birdies were tied for second-most among the 90 players in the field, while playing the Par 4s at 1-over (T2nd) and the Par 5s at 3-under (T4th). Overall, Hackett helped WKU to its sixth top-4 finish of the season, defeating No. 59 Minnesota, No. 69 Florida Gulf Coast, No. 78 Furman, No. 90 UTSA and No. 97 North Florida, and finishing just behind No. 39 Purdue, No. 44 Charleston and No. 83 Charlotte.
Hackett and the Lady Tops close the regular season schedule next Monday at Tennessee's Spring Challenge. The 36-hole event will take place on Monday, April 7. After that, WKU heads to the Conference USA Championships in St. Augustine, Fla., April 14-16.
