DALLAS – Conference USA announced its fall Spirit of Service winners on Friday, with WKU Volleyball's Callahan Wiegandt earning the honor.
The award honors student-athletes with significant community service endeavors, good academic standing and participation in their sport. The Spirit of Service award is presented three times throughout the season, with Friday's honorees representing men's cross country, football, women's soccer and volleyball.
Wiegandt dedicated over 20 hours during the fall semester to the Bowling Green community and worked with local outreach programs such as Curbside Ministries while also participating in the Special Olympics basketball game and engaging with local elementary schools during High Five Fridays. The senior also participated in several WKU initiatives and often donated to the Salvation Army, contributed to Angel Trees, and was part of Make the Season Bright at the Hospitality House.
In the classroom, the Louisville native was just as successful as a three-time Dean's List honoree and was named to CUSA's Commissioner's Honor Roll for three consecutive years. Wiegandt also finished her time on The Hill as the Student Athlete Advisory Committee president and completed a full-time internship with WKU Athletics' Student Athlete Development and NIL office.
On the court, Wiegandt was an integral part of WKU's 10th CUSA tournament title and 11th regular season title and helped guide the Hilltoppers to their 18th total appearance in the NCAA tournament.
