BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Baseball assistant coach Rob Fournier was included as a special mention on D1Baseball's 25 Assistants Most Ready to be Head Coaches list, as released by the online outlet this fall.
D1Baseball (d1baseball.com) is a premier source for comprehensive and continuously updated news, analysis, rankings, scores, schedules and standings for every Division I college baseball team and conference in the country. The site features news, analysis and commentary from some of the sport's most prominent writers, including former Stanford star and ESPN's lead college baseball analyst Kyle Peterson. Since its inception in 2003, the outlet has served as an indispensable resource for college baseball fans and insiders alike.
A heralded junior college coach who spent 26 seasons at the helm for Wabash Valley (IL) CC, Fournier enters year four with the Hilltopper Baseball program after helping lead WKU to Conference USA Regular-Season and Tournament Championships in 2025 under head coach Marc Rardin. The banner year marked the first-ever CUSA Championship in the program's history and first conference title for the Tops since 2008. The Hilltoppers finished the 2025 season with a 46-14 (18-9 CUSA) final record – the second-most wins in a season in program history.
Before joining the staff at WKU, Fournier accumulated 1,109 career wins at Wabash Valley, winning 16 Great Rivers Athletic Conference (GRAC) Championships and totaling 50-or-more wins in eight seasons. In his first year as head coach of the Warriors, Fournier helped turn around a 12-win team to a 37-win mark in the 1997 season. The program has since rattled off 29 consecutive winning seasons, recording at least 30 wins in each campaign and a total of 17 40-plus-win seasons.
Fournier's teams made two NJCAA D1 World Series appearances, earning a third-place finish in 2017 and fourth-place finish in 2022. Fournier earned 14 GRAC Coach of the Year awards during his tenure at WVC and was inducted into the NJCAA Hall of Fame in 2022. Under Fournier's leadership, Wabash Valley saw more than 390 players move on to NCAA Division I programs, while 93 players were drafted or signed professionally.
Prior to his time at Wabash Valley, Fournier spent two years as the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator at MacMurray College in 1995 and 1996. In those two seasons, MacMurray produced a 62-22 overall record and made two regional appearances. Fournier also holds professional scouting experience as an associate, spending seven years with the Cleveland Guardians and more than 10 years with the Philadelphia Phillies.
