BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU women's golf senior Sydney Hackett has been named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday. It is Hackett's sixth time earning the weekly award and the third time this season.
The Ashburn, Virginia native won the third tournament of her career at the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate in Knoxville on Tuesday as co-champion of the tournament. Her three career wins are the third most in WKU history behind Mary Joiner (6) and Catie Craig (5).
The senior posted an 11-under par score of 202 (69-68-65) for the tournament. Her 65 in the third round and overall score of 202 were career lows. The 202 is the second lowest 54-hole score in program history and her 65 is tied for the third lowest round score in WKU history.
Her stellar play also led the Lady Toppers to jump up seven spots from round one to finish tied for third in the tournament.
Hackett defeated individuals from Tennessee, Penn State, TCU, Oregon State, Charlotte, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, FIU, Jacksonville State, South Alabama, Mercer, Chattanooga, East Tennessee State and Campbell.
In 37 tournaments played, Hackett has finished in the top five 11 times, top 10 14 times, top 20 21 times and top 25 25 times.
