BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Baseball and Softball are set to host the fourth annual "Bat Out Breast Cancer" event on Monday, October 20 at Nick Denes Field from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. CT. This year's event is sponsored by Graves Gilbert Clinic.
The goal of the event is to bring student-athletes, students, and the southcentral Kentucky community together to raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection. The event is open to everyone and there is no age requirement to participate. All participants must sign a waiver to bat and helmets will be available. Children are encouraged to bring their own helmets and/or bats.
The event will feature two stations including "Bat Out Breast Cancer" and "Strike Out Breast Cancer." Participants can pay $5 for five hits or eight attempts to hit a soft toss pitch, or have the opportunity to throw five pitches with pitching speed measured using a radar gun. An autograph station will also be set up with players from both teams available to sign autographs for fans.
