BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Three WKU Football players earned Conference USA weekly awards following the team's 27-24 win at Delaware on Friday, the league announced Monday.
Quarterback Maverick McIvor was named the CUSA Offensive Player of the Week, left guard Laurence Seymore was named the CUSA Offensive Lineman of the Week and running back Marvis Parrish was named the CUSA Freshman of the Week. WKU's win at Delaware was the team's second CUSA road win in six days, and improved the team's record to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in CUSA play. It is the program's first 5-1 start since the 2015 season.
The three CUSA weekly awards brings WKU's total for the season to 11. McIvor has claimed the CUSA Offensive Player of the Week award three times now, and it is the second CUSA Freshman of the Week award for Parrish and the second Offensive Lineman of the Week award from Seymore. La'Vell Wright has also been named the CUSA Offensive Player of the Week, Marshall Jackson has been named the CUSA Offensive Lineman of the Week, Jaylen Lewis has been named the CUSA Defensive Player of the Week and Cole Maynard has been named the CUSA Special Teams Player of the Week.
McIvor finished with 230 yards and a touchdown on 23-31-0 passing, and added 36 yards on six rushing attempts. McIvor now leads CUSA and is fourth nationally in completions per game (25.17); is first in CUSA and 14th nationally in passing touchdowns (12); is first in CUSA and third nationally in passing yards (1,704); is first in CUSA and 27th nationally in points responsible for (78); and is first in CUSA and 21st nationally in total offense (286.7).
Parrish posted 27 yards on five rushing attempts in WKU's win over the Fightin' Blue Hens. Parrish leads the Hilltoppers in rushing attempts with 47 and is second on the team in receptions with 23 this season.
Seymore was part of a WKU offense that put up 338 yards against Delaware. The Hilltoppers tallied 230 yards through the air and completed 74% of its passes with the help of Seymore, who posted a pass blocking grade of 86.6 over 60 snaps at left guard and didn't allow a sack, hit or hurry. Seymore also posted the best run blocking grade on the team – 73.1.
WKU Football will return home to face FIU on Tuesday, Oct. 14. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT and the game will be nationally televised on ESPNU. Prior to the game, Blanco Brown will perform a free pregame concert on South Lawn beginning at 5:30 p.m. CT. Tickets to the game can be purchased HERE.
