BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Head Coach Amy Tudor announced the hiring of Melissa Mayeux on Wednesday, who is set to join WKU Softball for the 2026 season.Â
Mayeux, a native of Le Barcares, France, joins WKU after spending time at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Northwestern State. Â
As a player, Mayeux spent two seasons at Miami Dade College and finished her collegiate career at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, where she was named the 2022 Sun Belt Player of the Year.Â
While playing for the Ragin' Cajuns, Mayeux posted a career batting average of .292, collecting 89 total hits and 15 home runs. She also played seven different positions on the field, including all five infield positions, and finished her three years at ULL with a .964 fielding percentage.Â
During her Sun Belt Player of the Year campaign in 2022, Mayeux led the Ragin' Cajuns in batting average (.336), runs (35), hits (42), doubles (12), home runs (6), RBIs (29), and fielding percentage (.989).Â
"I am thrilled to add Melissa to our staff," said head coach Amy Tudor. "She excelled as a collegiate athlete, as a professional, and currently as a member of the France National team. Her international experience broadens our recruiting database. She comes highly recommended by several colleagues, and we look forward to getting to work!"Â
Prior to playing softball in the U.S., Mayeux was a member of the French U-18 Junior National baseball team and was accepted to one of two baseball academies in France at age 14.Â
Not long after, Mayeux was added to Major League Baseball's International Registration List, making her the first woman eligible to be signed or drafted by an MLB organization.Â
"Joining WKU Softball is an honor and a new chapter in a journey that's been built on hard work, resilience, and love for the game," said Mayeux. "I can't wait to pour my heart into helping this program continue to rise."Â
