ABOUT THE LADY TOPPERS
- WKU Women's Tennis is in its winningest three-year stretch in program history with 47 wins during that period.
- The Lady Toppers are coming off of a 14-11 season in 2024, which tied for the fourth-most wins in a single season in program history.
- WKU returns four of its eight players from the 2023-24 season in Sofia Blanco, Sunskrithi Damera, Rachel Hermanova and Mariana Zegada. WKU brought in four newcomers during the offseason – Stephen F. Austin transfer Carolina Chiatti, Nevada transfer Mia Miranda, Marshall transfer Emily Schut and Valparaiso transfer Elizabeth Sobieski.
- Senior Rachel Hermanova enters the season ranked first in program history in career singles wins with 49, while fellow senior Sofia Blanco ranks third with 40 wins. Blanco is also second in program history in career doubles wins with 38, while senior Mariana Zegada ranks fifth with 32.
- The 2024-25 season will be the seventh for Greg Davis at the helm of the WKU Women's Tennis program. He boasts a 322-182 all-time record in his collegiate head coaching career since 1999, which ranks 29th in total wins and 36th in winning percentage among active Division I women's tennis head coaches with at least five years as a Division I head coach entering the 2025 spring season.
- The Lady Toppers participated in three events during the fall – the APSU Fall Tournament, the 2024 ITA Division I Women's Ohio Valley Regional Championship and the MTSU Invitational.
- Thursday will be the first of 16 scheduled home matches this season for WKU. The Lady Toppers claimed 11 home wins last season, which was the second-highest mark in a single season in program history, and had a program-record eight-match home winning streak.
QUOTABLE
- "We brought in four new players. I like what I'm seeing in practice here in January. They've come back ready to play. We're much further along, I feel, this year at this time than last year at this time when we came back." – WKU Women's Tennis Head Coach Greg Davis, on the team and starting the 2025 season on Thursday against EKU.
SERIES INFORMATION
- WKU is 7-11 all-time against EKU. The Colonels took last year's season-opening match in Richmond, Kentucky, 4-3, but the Lady Toppers won the three previous matchups. Thursday's meeting will be only the fourth between the two programs in Bowling Green.
