JACKSONVILLE, AL. -- WKU Volleyball had five different players hit over .400 on Saturday en route to their 3-0 sweep of Jacksonville State. Senior rightside hitter Kenadee Coyle led the charge with a .526 hitting percentage and 12 total kills, while also collecting four blocks at the net.
Alongside Coyle was freshman outside hitter Alivia Skidmore with 13 kills and a .462 hitting percentage. At the net, sophomore middle hitter Izzy Van De Wiele led with six total blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1: 25-20
Coyle's four kill helped the Hilltoppers (9-6 overall, 2-0 CUSA) to a match-high .484 hitting percentage with 15 kills. Van De Wiele and Coyle also recorded two blocks a piece. Freshman outside hitter Faith Young also recorded a solo block. Attack errors plagued the Gamecocks (7-8 overall, 0-2 CUS) as the WKU defense limited them to a .216 hitting percentage.
Set 2: 25-19
Outside hitter Kaylee Cox and Skidmore registered four kills apiece in set two with both coming in at a .500 hitting percentage. Coyle added another three kills to her total while Van De Wiele grabbed two solo blocks and a block assist for three total blocks in the set.
Set 3: 25-15
Skidmore came alive in the third set with six kills while Coyle almost matched her with five kills of her own. Five different Hilltoppers registered at least one block with Cox leading the set with two. Cox and Young also registered one solo block each.
