HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tops regained some ground in this final round. After slipping to 10th in the second round, the Tops bounced back in the final shooting a 295 as a team. Stephen Warren led the way for WKU, moving up the board once again to close out the final round of the tourney following a career-best round. Warren was responsible for five of the Tops nine birdies in this final round. Rafe Blankenship had an impressive showing in his first look at WKU action, tying for 34th after a 7-over 79. Also getting his first look at WKU action, Trevor Drew tied for 76th after a 4-over 76 final round.
NOTABLES
- Senior Stephen Warren led the way for the Tops off the back of a career round. Warren shot a 5-under 67 which is the best round of his collegiate career.
- After moving up the board 22 spots after the second round, Warren improved even more and moved up a 34 spots to clinch a top 10 finish.
- In addition to Warren, the Tops had two other finishers in the top 50. Rafe Blankenship tied for 34th after a 7-over 79 final round in his first WKU appearance. Nic Hofman tied for 41st after a 3-over 75 round.
- The Tops put in nine total birdies in the final round.
- WKU's 880 total score is the best 54-hole score the Tops have posted when they've played in the Argent Financial Classic.
NEXT UP
The Hilltoppers will travel to West Lafayette to compete in the Purdue Fall Classic. The tourney will take place from September 22-23. Last year, the Red and White finished 12th in the tournament.
