ABOUT THE TOPS
- WKU will play its second game of the 2024 season on Thursday night after starting the season at Austin Peay on Aug. 15. In that game, the Hilltoppers fell behind two goals early in the second half but a goal by Ashton Lynam put WKU back into striking distance but the Hilltoppers were unable to find an equalizer.
- Lynam's goal was the first of her career in her first collegiate game. It was the first time a freshman has scored WKU's first goal of the season since the 2020 season played in the spring of 2021 when Ellie Belcher scored first for the Tops.
- The Hilltoppers returned 17 players from the 2023 season and welcomed two transfers and seven freshmen. Among the returners are 2023 starting goalkeeper Maddie Davis, second-leading scorer Kayla Meyer and defensive starters Aspen Seaich, Kendall Wade and Lily Rummo.
- WKU was picked to finish third in the preseason Conference USA coaches poll. Liberty was picked first and New Mexico State was selected second. The Hilltoppers finished third in Conference USA last season with a 4-2-2 record in conference play. The Hilltoppers were 6-5-7 overall. The seven ties were a school and CUSA record.
SERIES INFORMATION
- WKU is 3-0-0 against Union all-time. All three of those games have come at home.
