TEXARKANA, Ark. – The WKU Men's Golf Team finished the second day of the CUSA Tournament Tuesday afternoon in Texarkana, Arkansas. Graduate student Luke Fuller has is leading the way for the Tops as he is currently in first place with a one stroke lead.
Following a season-best round, Fuller turned in a 1-under 71 second round. The graduate student had a very strong close to his second round, putting in two of his four birdies on his 15th and 16th holes. He is currently second in the field in total birdies with 9 and first in the field in Par 4s with a 3.85 average.
Junior Riley Grindstaff had a great second round for the Tops, climbing up the leaderboard 12 spots to tie for 11th going into the final round tomorrow. Grindstaff used three birdies to shoot up the board Tuesday. He was able to shave a stroke off his first-round score to turn in a 1-over 73.
Looking to rebound tomorrow for the final round, Nic Hofman is currently tied for 24th heading into Tuesday. Hofman put in two birdies today, but had some struggles in the back nine. He is still in the top-25 and will be looking to bounce back and get off to a hot start tomorrow morning.
Tying for 36th for WKU is Stephen Warren. Warren was able to improve greatly for the Tops, shaving four strokes off of his first-round score. The Hilltopper junior turned in a 4-over 76. He capped off his strong round with a birdie on his 16th hole.
Hilltopper freshman Gage Doyle was also able to shave strokes off of his first-round score and move up two spots on the leaderboard, placing 38th before tomorrow's final round. Doyle put in one birdie on his way to a 6-over 78 second round score.
The Hilltoppers will wrap up the final round of the conference tournament tomorrow morning. Tee time is slated for 9:30 A.M. for WKU.
