UPDATE: Saturday's match against Belmont has been moved inside to the Warren County Tennis Facility at Michael O. Buchanon Park.
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Women's Tennis will look to improve on its 4-1 home record when it hosts Belmont on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT and IUPUI on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. CT. Saturday's match will be played at the Warren County Tennis Facility at Michael O. Buchanon Park and Sunday's match is expected to be played outside at the WKU Tennis Complex.
"Belmont's very good, very improved from last year," WKU Head Coach Greg Davis said. "Then the next day my alma mater is coming in, IUPUI. That's always a match we look forward to. It's going to be a difficult weekend. It's nice to have some momentum going into the weekend's matches after last weekend. We're just focusing on the process and trying to get better each week."
The Lady Toppers are coming off a 4-3 victory against Wyoming and a 4-2 win over UIC last weekend. WKU enters the weekend with a 5-5 overall record.
Sofia Blanco has led WKU in singles play this season with an 8-1 record, which has boosted her to sixth on the program's all-time singles wins list. Rachel Hermanova is three wins from tying the program's career singles record of 44.
The Lady Toppers have faced Belmont in each of the last two seasons, claiming 6-1 and 5-2 victories in those matches. The Bruins lead the series 17-12, but WKU has won six of the last eight meetings. Belmont enters Saturday's match sporting a 6-4 record this spring.
WKU has a 4-4 all-time record against IUPUI, including a perfect 3-0 mark against the Jaguars under Davis. The Lady Toppers defeated IUPUI 6-1 last season in Indianapolis and claimed a 7-0 victory in Bowling Green the season prior. IUPUI is 3-4 this season.
