BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU women's basketball (15-10, 6-4 CUSA) secured a second straight win on Saturday afternoon in E.A. Diddle Arena with a 54-45 victory against Jacksonville State (9-13, 4-6 CUSA). It gave the Lady Toppers a regular season sweep of the Gamecocks after previously defeating the team, 62-52, in Jacksonville.
"I'm proud of how they've adjusted because we've had to adjust how we play quite a bit based on health and depth and experience," said head coach Greg Collins. "I couldn't be more proud of this group for how they work on executing a game plan. I told them in the huddle after the game, I don't care who plays and I don't care how we play - all I want to do is win. That's it."
Sophomore Josie Gilvin had a career game, finishing with 14 points, four steals, three rebounds, two assists and two blocks. It was a career high in points for Gilvin. Alexis Mead had a second straight game in double figures with 12 points along with five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Aaliyah Pitts led the team on the boards, pulling down nine rebounds. Over the last four games, Pitts is averaging 7.0 rebounds per game.
