BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU volleyball closed its weekend series hosting CUSA opponent LA Tech with a 3-0 victory over the Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon in Diddle Arena. Freshman outside hitter Alivia Skidmore helped power the Tops to victory charting 19 total kills and a .643 percent hitting clip, as the Hilltoppers swept LA Tech for the weekend and improved to 17-6 overall with a perfect 10-0 mark in conference play.
With Saturday's victory over LA Tech, Hilltopper Volleyball has now secured 84 consecutive regular season conference wins.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1: 25-20
A strong start by Skidmore helped propel the Tops to a first-set victory over the Bulldogs. The freshman outside hitter charted seven kills in the first set including the set-clincher.
Set 2: 25-10
WKU jumped out to a 15-5 lead in the second set. Skidmore charted another six kills while Gabby Weihe accounted for three of the Tops' final four points before a service ace by Katie Howard clinched the set for WKU.
Set 3: 25-19
Strong hitting continued to propel the Tops in the third set as seven different Hilltoppers accounted for points. With the teams knotted at 14-14, WKU outscored the Bulldogs 11-5 for the remainder of the match and pulled away to secure the three-set sweep.
NOTABLES
- Senior rightside hitter Kenadee Coyle and senior outside hitter Kaylee Cox each accounted for nine kills in the win over the Bulldogs
- Callie Bauer charted a game-high 46 assists for the Tops
- Bauer, Howard and Callahan Wiegandt each recorded one ace for the match
- WKU recorded a .485 percent hitting clip to LA Tech's .185 percent
