BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Long snapper Trey Naughton was named to the 2023 Academic All-America Second Team by the College Sports Communicators for his efforts in the classroom and on the field with the WKU Football program in 2023.
Naughton was the starting long snapper in each of the Hilltoppers 13 games during the 8-5 campaign, which was capped off by a 38-35 come-from-behind victory over Old Dominion in the Famous Toastery Bowl.
He was part of special teams units that were tied for first nationally in blocked kicks allowed and blocked punts allowed, giving up zero on the season, and played a role in Lucas Carneiro's game-winning field goal in overtime during the bowl win. Naughton was an All-Conference USA Honorable Mention selection, and also earned a spot on the All-CUSA Freshman Team.
Naughton was a two-time member of the WKU President's List, a member of the 2022-23 Commissioner's Honor Roll, and a 2022-23 recipient of the Commissioner's Academic Medal.
