BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Women's Tennis will welcome Bellarmine for the home opener on Friday, Jan. 19, at 6 p.m. CT at the Michael O. Buchanan Park Indoor Tennis Facility.
"Always excited to open a new season at home," WKU Women's Tennis Head Coach Greg Davis said. "Bellarmine is an improved team. They played a very good match against Indiana the other day. We're expecting their best, and from last match I think we know going forward that we're always going to get everybody's best each match."
The Lady Toppers opened the season Sunday at Eastern Kentucky and fell 4-3, but picked up the doubles point with victories from the duos of Paola Cortez/Anna-Marie Kopecka and Sofia Blanco/Samantha Martinez, and also scored singles victories from Blanco and Kopecka.
Bellarmine is also 0-1 after starting the season with a 5-2 defeat at Indiana on Monday.
WKU holds a 9-0 all-time record against Bellarmine. The programs have met each of the last three seasons, and Friday's match will mark the first meeting between the two in Bowling Green since the 2011 season.
The Lady Toppers went 7-5 at home last season, and are 19-9 at home over the past two campaigns.
