BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Tennis wraps up the 2023 regular season and C-USA campaign with a visit from UTEP on Saturday, April 15 followed by a non-conference match against rival Marshall on Sunday, April 16. Both matches will be played at the WKU Tennis Complex, weather permitting. Doubles play is set to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
"Two very good teams visiting this weekend. UTEP is the most improved team in the league and Marshall has had a tremendous season with wins over Kentucky and other top teams," said head coach Greg Davis. "We would love to see our fans fill the stands this weekend for our final two home matches."
This past Saturday, the Lady Toppers fell to UAB 5-2, falling to 14-9 on the year while dropping to 1-3 in C-USA play. WKU lost the doubles point in the match for the first time in six matches.
WKU is 1-0 all-time against UTEP with the lone matchup against the Miners coming back on January 27, 2018 in a 4-1 victory. The match took place in Louisville, Ky.
UTEP is 5-11 on the year while posting a 1-2 mark in C-USA play. They most recently defeated Grambling State 4-0 back on April 8.
The Lady Toppers are 2-1 all-time against Marshall with the last matchup resulting in a 4-3 win on April 16, 2022 in Huntington, W.V. Sunday will mark the first time the two have played in Bowling Green and the first out of conference matchup.
The Thundering Herd are 13-6 on the year, most recently defeating South Alabama 4-0 on April 9. Marshall is set to take on Appalachian State Friday, April 14 at 1 p.m. CT.
