Hilltopper Basketball Opens Road Play Facing Wichita State

Bowling Green, Ky. – WKU Hilltopper Basketball opens 2023-24 regular-season road competition on Thursday, Nov. 9 as the team travels for a matchup against Wichita State. The game will take place at Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kan. at 6:30 p.m. CT with ESPN+ set to broadcast.

Head coach Steve Lutz and the Hilltoppers enter Thursday's non-conference battle having secured a 90-64 win over Kentucky Wesleyan in the team's season opener on Monday. The victory saw a strong team performance for WKU, with first-year transfers Brandon Newman and Babacar Faye charting impressive outings for the Hilltoppers.

Newman, a transfer from Purdue, accounted for a team high 14 points and five rebounds, while College of Charleston transfer Faye notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Freshman Teagan Moore and senior Khristian Lander each accounted for double-digit point totals with 12 and 10 respectively. Junior college transfer Don McHenry led the team in assists with a total of four to pair with eight points and three boards.

WKU stands at 1-0 entering the matchup with Wichita State. The Hilltoppers lead 3-2 all time against the Shockers in a series that dates back to 1941.
