BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU men's basketball will host historic commonwealth rival Eastern Kentucky on Sunday, Dec. 3 at 4 p.m. CT in E.A. Diddle Arena. The team enters the matchup against EKU standing at 5-3 on the season after posting a 101-77 victory over Campbellsville on Wednesday that saw six Hilltoppers chart double-digit point totals.

The 2023-24 CampaignÂ
WKU improved to 5-3 for the 2023-24 season after securing a strong win over Campbellsville on Wednesday. The Hilltoppers combined for 21 assists as a collective, while a total of six players scored in double-digits.Â

Khristian Lander led the charge for the Tops with 22 points to go with five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block. Tyrone Marshall Jr. and Brandon Newman both finished with 15 points, while Babacar Faye ended the night just one board shy of a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.Â

Rodney Howard and Dontaie Allen finished with 11 and 10 points respectively to round out the Tops' double-digit scorers. Jalen Jackson once again provided a spark as a court facilitator and led the team in assists, dishing out a total of six.
Series HistoryÂ
The "Battle of the Bluegrass" series between WKU and EKU dates back to the 1914-15 season and serves as one of the most storied and historic rivalries in Kentucky basketball history. The programs have clashed in the commonwealth a total of 160 times, with the Hilltoppers holding a 116-44 advantage in the all-time series with the Colonels.

The most recent meeting between the schools came in 2022-23, with the Tops edging out a 66-60 win on the road in Richmond. The teams both competed as league rivals in the Ohio Valley Conference from 1948-1982.Â

WKU has posted a 59-15 all-time record while hosting EKU in Bowling Green, and a 48-27 record on the road in Richmond. The 161st edition of the Battle of the Bluegrass will be hosted by WKU at E.A. Diddle Arena at 4 p.m. CT with ESPN+ set to broadcast the outing.
