BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- As the No. 23 Hilltoppers wrap up their final homestand in Diddle Arena, Travis Hudson and the Tops are in line to clinch the regular season conference title on Senior Day, as WKU plays host to FIU. Promoting BRAVO volleyball club night on Friday, WKU could clinch its ninth regular season title in 10 years as the Red and White celebrate Paige Briggs, Shannon Keck, Cameron Mosley, and student assistant Sam Canner for their years of service to the program. The matches, Friday, Nov. 3 and Saturday, Nov 4, will serve off at 6 p.m. and noon CT in Bowling Green.
Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+ with Scott Thompson on play-by-play, and Ken Marshall on color. As is the case for every Hilltopper match this season, all the action will also be available on the Varsity Radio Network with Reily Chestnut on the audio call.
In a momentous weekend in Ruston for the first time since 2018, the Tops sweep LA Tech in both of their weekend matches, holding them under a .100 hitting clip in both. Freshman Izzy Van De Wiele marked a career weekend in the middle, hitting double-digit kills for a .451 average, while Abby Schaefer continued a four-match streak of double-digit digs from the back row. The Bulldogs' 25.0 points in Saturday's match was the second-lowest amount allowed by the Tops all season, in a quick three-set match up that lasted an hour and 10 minutes.
A turnaround from last season's 8-21 season, Cristina Robertson and the FIU Panthers kicked off CUSA action with their best start in conference history: 5-0. Now owning a 12-14 overall slate, the Panthers are 8-4 in Conference USA, sitting in third place in the standings. FIU's Yasso Amin leads the Panthers with a .267 hitting percentage, adding to the team's total .210 hitting clip, while they average 2.1 blocks a set.
