EVANSVILLE, Ind. – WKU Cross Country wrapped up action Friday morning at the Angel Mounds Invitational at the Angel Mounds Cross Country Course in Evansville, Ind.
The Hilltoppers were one of 19 teams competing in the races Friday morning.
The women finished up in 10th place in the 5K race while the men's squad finished 12th in the 8K race.
For the fourth time this season, freshmen led the way for both the men and women. Jared Sandfoss led the men with a time of 26:47, an improvement of one second since the last 8K meet. Kinley Kunkel once again led the women with a time of 23:05. The duo have been the top finishers for each team in all four meets this season.
Kinley Kunkel's 23:05 time improved her 6K time from the last meet by over a minute, an improvement of 65 seconds.
Sophomore Rowan Wilkinson beat his previous personal best in the 8K by 21 seconds, finishing in 27:44, good enough for second best team finish in the men's race. Five Hilltoppers finished in the top 100 in the women's race with multiple just outside.
Five members of the women's team improved their 6K time while three members of the men's squad improved their season best 8K time.
In the men's race there were 174 total competitors. In the women's race there were 168 competing.

The Hilltoppers will kick off postseason play and host the CUSA Championships on Saturday Oct. 28. The meet will be held at Hobson Grove Park.
