ATHENS, Ga. – WKU Women's Golf had a stellar start to the spring competition season as three Lady Toppers finished inside the top six.
Freshman Sydney Hackett sophomore Catie Craig shot 5-over 149 at the par-72, 6,326-yard UGA Golf Course. They tied for fourth while fifth-year senior Kenlie Barrett shot 6-over 150 and tied for sixth.
Hackett had a five-stroke turnaround between the first and second rounds, shooting 5-over 77 then even-par 72. Her even-par round was one of just four the entire day of even or better. Barrett and Craig had four and three-stroke turnarounds, respectively.
Craig led the field on par 3's, scoring an average of 2.88 on those holes.
Senior Sarah Arnold shot 11-over 155 on the day and tied for 14th. Both junior Rachel Rich and sophomore Faith Martin tied for 21st after posting 16-over 160's.
Freshman Averi Cline finished in 26th and junior Addie Westbrook was in the 29th on the leaderboard.
WKU will play in its first team spring tournament on February 17-19 at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational hosted by Mercer.
