DALLAS – WKU Men's Golf became the fourth team in WKU Athletics' history to earn the Conference USA Sport Academic Award, the league announced Friday. The award is given to the team in each conference-sponsored sport with the highest GPA for the academic year.
Hilltopper Golf is the first from The Hill to accomplish the feat since volleyball claimed its team award in 2018. Women's golf won its award in 2016 and soccer claimed its in 2015, cementing men's golf as the only male sport at WKU to earn the highly competitive honor.
The team posted a cumulative team GPA in 2021-22 of 3.53 with multiple golfers earning perfect 4.0 GPAs in the fall and spring semesters.
WKU is one of 10 institutions who earned at least one Sport Academic Award for the 2021-22 school year.
The men's golf squad also took home the Men's Scholar Team of the Year award at the 2022 TOPSYs, WKU's annual awards show.
