FRANKLIN, Tenn. – WKU Men's Golf finished off the weekend with the final round of the Mason Rudolph Championship hosted by Vanderbilt at the par-71, 7,100-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club.
"We started the event in decent position," said head coach Chan Metts. "We didn't play great yesterday, but still had ourselves in a position today where we could climb the leaderboard, which is a step in the right direction compared to the past few events. However, we didn't respond to the pressure or the task at hand today."
Sophomore Connery Meyer had the low score of the day for the Hilltoppers at 4-over 75. He logged the highest finish for the team at t-55th with a 54-hole total of 7-over 220.
WKU's Caleb O'Toole and Thomas Hogan carded a pair of 6-over 77's to count as two of the scores on Sunday. O'Toole tied for 66th overall while Hogan finished at t-77th.
The final score on the team card came from junior Luke Fuller who shot 8-over 79. He ultimately tied for 69th.
Freshman Riley Grindstaff ended the Championship with an 11-over 82 to finish in 85th.
WKU finished 15th as a team with a final-round score of 24-over 308 and a 54-hole score of 36-over 888.
"Sometimes there aren't answers other than it was just a bad day for the team," added Metts. "We will regroup and be ready to head to Houston next week. We need to show some toughness and bounce back from today's round moving forward."
