BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Tennis begins its postseason on Thursday, April 21 at the Conference USA Tournament in Murfreesboro, Tenn. The Lady Toppers were given the No. 9 seed, and will play No. 8 seed UAB in the first round at 9 a.m. CT at the Adams Tennis Complex.
There will be live stats during the event through CUSA.tv and if inclement weather pushes play indoors, there will be PlaySight camera going.
"UAB is definitely a team we are familiar with having played them earlier in the season," head coach Greg Davis said. "We are looking forward to a competitive match on Thursday morning In Murfreesboro."
WKU enters the 2022 C-USA Tournament with a 18-8 overall record and has won its last five matches. UAB, meanwhile, owns a 11-10 mark dropping five of its last seven matches, with the team winning its most recent decision on April 16 at Middle Tennessee, 4-3.
The sides met previously this season, in Birmingham on March 14. That day, The Blazers came out on top, winning 6-1.
If WKU wins, the squad would face No. 1 Old Dominion in the quarterfinal round on Friday, April 22 at 10 a.m. CT.
The Lady Toppers are in the midst of the second-best season in program history. Marking the best record they have had in a season since 1985 (20-8). Last month, Cora-Lynn von Dungern won her 32nd doubles match of her WKU career, breaking the record for most doubles wins in program history, formerly held by Lisa Friess, who posted a 31-23 record in her doubles career. Since then, she has added five more wins, owning a 37-13 career doubles record at WKU.
Rachel Hermanova has already posted the greatest singles season in WKU program history as a Freshman. She won her 18th singles match last weekend at Marshall, passing Karina Ledaja for most singles wins in a season, who held a record of 17-1 back in 2003-04.
