BOCA RATON, Fla. – WKU Baseball dropped its series opener to Florida Atlantic, 5-3, on Thursday night at FAU Baseball Stadium.
The Hilltoppers jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first frame but were unable to keep their early offensive momentum going, with the Owls scoring five unanswered runs to earn the win.
"Devyn Terbrak was outstanding tonight but unfortunately we weren't able to give him much support," said head coach John Pawlowski. "Both pitchers did a great job today. Now we just need to move forward and get ourselves ready for tomorrow."
Devyn Terbrak earned the starting nod for WKU, allowing five runs (two earned) and one walk while striking out eight in 7.0 innings of action. Logan Bowen entered in the eighth to relieve Terbrak, tossing a hitless 1.0 innings while recording one strikeout.
At the plate, the Hilltoppers tallied eight hits and one walk, with two players producing multi-hit performances. Both Tristin Garcia and Aidan Gilroy collected two hits apiece in the contest, with Gilroy adding a home run.
