BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Baseball dropped its series finale to FIU, 6-5, on Sunday afternoon at Nick Denes Field.
After recording wins on Friday and Saturday to capture a series victory over the Panthers, the Hilltoppers were unable to complete the sweep on Sunday after FIU fought back from a 5-2 deficit with four answered runs.
"I really like the way our team competed this weekend," said head coach John Pawlowski. "We took two out of three against FIU, and although we weren't able to complete the sweep today, there were a lot of positives to take away from our team's performance in this series. Hopefully we can take some momentum from this weekend and continue to build on it going forward."
Luke Sinnard earned the first start of his collegiate career in the contest, surrendering six hits and three runs (two earned) while not allowing a walk and striking out four in 5.2 frames. Hunter Crosby, Logan Bowen and Mason Vinyard closed things out from there, with the trio combining to allow seven hits and three runs (one earned) while not allowing a walk and recording four strikeouts in 3.1 innings.
At the plate, the Hilltoppers tallied eight hits and seven walks, with two players producing multi-hit performances. Ricardo Leonett led the way, going 3-for-4 with three runs and a walk, while Tristin Garcia went 2-for-5 with two RBI.
