BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Baseball dropped game two in its series against (RV) Southern Miss, 14-2, on Saturday afternoon at Nick Denes Field.
The Golden Eagles' pitching staff, which owns a 3.28 team ERA for the season, held the Hilltopper offense in check en route to the victory.
"Southern Miss played a great game," said head coach
John Pawlowski. "We didn't play well in any phase. From a pitching standpoint and an offensive standpoint, they were very good today. We just couldn't really get anything going. We'll have to regroup and come back tomorrow and find a way to win one game out of this series."
WKU utilized four pitchers on the mound in
Aristotle Peter,
Lane Diuguid, Wil Mortiz and
Cole Heath, with the group combining to allow 14 runs while striking out five batters in 9.0 innings of work.
Offensively, the Hilltoppers tallied three hits and four walks.
Andrew Delaney,
Tristin Garcia and
Brian McAuliffe each collected one hit apiece in the contest, with Garcia scoring a run and McAuliffe adding an RBI.
