CHARLOTTE, N.C. – WKU Baseball dropped a low-scoring affair to (RV) Charlotte, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon at Hayes Stadium.
The outcome brings the three-game series to a tie, setting up a rubber match on Sunday.
"I thought our pitchers kept us in the ballgame today," said head coach John Pawlowski. "I was really impressed with [Aristotle] Peter, I thought he did a really good job. Then Cooper [Hellman] came in and made some pitches along with Dalton [Mesaris], Lane [Diuguid] and Logan [Bowen] – I thought those guys did a good job.
"We hit some balls hard today. Tristin [Garcia], my goodness, he hit every single ball on the nails today but just didn't have anything to show for it. But, we competed hard and I liked the way we got after it. We were one swing away from being right in that game today."
Aristotle Peter earned the starting nod for the Hilltoppers, allowing three runs (two earned) while striking out four in 3.1 innings. WKU utilized Cooper Hellman, Dalton Mesaris, Lane Diuguid and Logan Bowen from there, with the group combining to allow just three hits while not surrendering a run and striking out four in 4.2 frames.
At the plate, the Hilltoppers tallied six hits, with two players producing multi-hit performances. Ty Batusich went 2-for-4 to go along with a run, while Aidan Gilroy also added a 2-for-4 outing.
