About the Lady Toppers
- The Lady Toppers opened the season with a pair of games against SEC foes in Vanderbilt and Missouri. Through two games, Jaylin Foster is WKU's leading scorer, averaging 18.5 points per game. She's also the squad's leading rebounder, pulling down 8.5 boards per game.
- Foster currently has the 14th best steals per game average in the country, averaging 4.0 per contest. She had a career high six takeaways against Vanderbilt and two against Missouri.
- Greg Collins is in his fifth season as head coach at WKU. An emphasis Collins has put on his teams is 3-point shooting. In 2021-22, the Lady Toppers made 225 threes on the season which is the second most by a WKU team in program history. In fact, four of the top five marks in the record book belong to a team during Collins' tenure at WKU including his days as an assistant coach and associate head coach. The Lady Toppers also tied the school record for most 3-pointers made in a game twice last season, connecting on 14 threes against North Carolina A&T and Middle Tennessee.
- Last season, WKU leaned heavily on a core of freshmen. Those rookies scored 52.3 percent of the team's points for the year and pulled down 45.6 percent of the squad's rebounds. Mya Meredith earned Conference USA Freshman of the Year honors at the end of the season, despite missing the final eight games of the season due to a knee injury. Alexis Mead and Meredith were named to the C-USA All-Freshmen Team as well.
Series History
- WKU and Miami have played five times in series history and the Lady Toppers have won all five matchups. The series dates back to Nov. 30, 1990 and the most recent game came last season in Oxford where WKU won it on a buzzer beater from Mya Meredith.
